On Thursday Apple announced a new OS for iPhone, due for the Summer. I was impressed by the new features and now putting my mind to the opportunities these will offer to My Vacation. Let's go through some of them:
Tap to focus on video
Video thumbnails with a snapshot from the video - to replace the video icon you currently see.
You will be able to switch to and from My Vacation much more quickly.
Background tasks - you should be able to start a Facebook or Flickr upload and leave the app to let it run in the background (on 3GS).
Geotagged photos. My Vacation already offers this although when saving photos to your Photo Album it will be good to keep location data tagged to those.
Background location. A new low powered GPS based on cell tower signals will mean My Vacation may be able to include path tracking during the day. Using full GPS would drain battery to much I think.
Draggable map pins
Spell checking for those who those of your who are particulur about yer spelling ;)
Wireless bluetooth keyboard support. This will be a good match for My Vacation. You could pack a keyboard in your luggage and use it in the hotel at the end of the day to type in your journal.
In the new OS My Vacation could add entries to your Calendar. I think this would be a nice option to have next to the Title fields on the vacation summary and day summary pages.
Has anyone else been following this announcement with interest? Did I miss anything that would be good to bring into My Vacation? You can now add comments to articles - see below.

It has reached top 10 for travel in following countries

Thank you again for the support.
Our grade: A
While testing out this app, I couldn’t help but think of Apple’s remarks on their intent to weed out the “cookie cutter” apps in search of more usable ones, and also how Steve Jobs himself described the iPhone as “your life in your pocket.” I wouldn’t go so far as to say this My Vacation app fully embodies the ideal of your life in your pocket, but it does a darn good job of documenting your life over the span of a week or so…all in your pocket. The media capibilites here with photos, video, and audio; the preparation features; the interface and presentation of your vacation; and the thoughtfulness behind connecting it all together definitely makes this app a winner and a “must-download” for the travel-hungry.
